Hi, my name is Maria Boyd! I’ve been in the music industry for a little over 10 years, and my path here has been anything but linear.

I got my start in marketing at local venues in my hometown of Denver, Colorado, where I quickly found myself working closely with bands and the live music community. That led to touring, where I handled merch and assisted tour managers, giving me firsthand experience with how artists operate on the road and behind the scenes.

After moving to Los Angeles, I found myself at Sumerian Records for a little over a year. From there, I got swung into an Operations Manager role at a music promotional company at the ripe age of 24. In that role, I built relationships with up-and-coming artists, managers, agents, and industry professionals while helping the company build to an international level.

In 2020, I joined TikTok supporting influencers and content creators, where I discovered my love for content marketing. Around the same time, my partner in crime (now fiancé!) gained traction on the platform, and I began helping him grow his pages and manage brand deals. During this time, I had the opportunity to work at Warner Records which really showed me how larger than life entities operate to make the dreams come true for artists.

That experience opened the door to working with more artists and brands in a more meaningful way, diving into creative strategies that support both the brand’s needs and creators.

Today, I’ve grown that experience into a sustainable consulting business and officially gone out on my own with Matchmaker Marketing — where artists, creators, and brands meet their match.
